Software Professional Course
This exciting new course gives students the opportunity to
kick-start their career in the software industry. No matter
what their degree subject, the Software Professional course
will give them all they need to know to begin work as a
software professional for one of Northern Ireland's many
software companies.
This year's course started in September 2008 and lasts 35
weeks. It is an intensive programme of study which will
introduce students to the fundamentals of computer systems and
software development. At the end of the course students will
know about:
- the design of complex IT systems, from web technology to
mainframe systems,
- how to build databases,
- convert business requirements into software programmes,
and
- how software professionals project manage and quality
assure their software development projects.
On completion of the course, students will be awarded the
Edexcel Level 5 Diploma in Professional Software Development; a
brand new accredited qualification that has been built around
the Software Professional Course Curriculum.
The course is free of charge but means working hard for
the next 6 months. At the end of the process, however, our
graduates have solid skills and knowledge which will enable
them to compete for employment with many Northern Ireland-based
companies who are looking for software developers.
Over 80% of students who graduated from the course in 2008
have gone on to gain employment in their chosen fields.
